Welcome to Latter Day Missionaries'
Helping parents help their missionaries, every step of the journey.
PEARL is built on a simple belief:
When parents feel supported, missionaries benefit too.
Missionary service is one of the most meaningful experiences in a family's life, but it can also bring questions, uncertainty, and difficult moments.
When your missionary is homesick, anxious, discouraged, struggling with a companion, or simply having a hard week, it can be difficult to know what to say or how to help from hundreds or thousands of miles away.
PEARL was created to bridge that gap.
Everything inside PEARL is built around three pillars designed to help parents support their missionaries with greater confidence, connection, and peace of mind.
You don't have to navigate the missionary journey alone.
Connect with a private community of missionary parents who understand.
Ask questions, share experiences, celebrate the victories, process the difficult moments, and encourage one another in a safe, supportive environment.
Explore a growing library of educational resources covering common missionary challenges, including homesickness, anxiety, loneliness, discouragement, difficult companions, pornography, returning home early, and more. Every topic follows our
Understand • Connect • Support
framework to help you respond with confidence and compassion.
Practical tools for every stage of the missionary journey.
Access guided meditations, conversation guides, missionary-inspired music, birthday songs, telegrams, electronic gifts, printable resources, and other thoughtfully designed tools to help you stay connected and support your missionary, before, during, and after their mission.
You've got questions. We've got answers.
PEARL (Parent Education and Resource Library) is an online resource created specifically for parents of Latter-day Saint missionaries. It provides trusted education, practical resources, and a supportive community to help parents navigate the missionary journey before, during, and after missionary service.
Our mission is simple:
Helping parents help their missionaries, every step of the journey.
PEARL is built around three pillars:
A private online community where parents can:
Ask questions
Share experiences
Celebrate victories
Process difficult moments
Encourage one another
Missionary service isn't meant to be navigated alone.
Our education library covers many of the challenges missionaries may face, including:
Homesickness
Anxiety
Loneliness
Depression
Discouragement
Rejection
Difficult companions
Scrupulosity
Pornography
Perfectionism
Burnout
Returning home early
Transitioning home
And much more.
Each topic is organized around our framework:
Understand • Connect • Support
You'll learn:
what your missionary may be experiencing
how to respond in supportive ways
practical next steps for parents and missionaries
PEARL also includes resources designed to make supporting your missionary a little easier.
These include:
guided meditations for parents
missionary-inspired music
birthday songs
missionary telegrams
electronic birthday and holiday gifts
printable resources
conversation guides
practical tools for parents and missionaries
New resources will continue to be added over time.
Not at all.
Many parents join simply because they want to better support their missionary.
Others come looking for help during a difficult season.
Whether your missionary is thriving or having a hard week, PEARL is designed to help parents feel more confident in supporting them.
No.
PEARL is an educational resource.
While many of the principles are informed by current mental health research and clinical experience, PEARL does not provide therapy, crisis services, or individual medical advice.
If a missionary is experiencing a mental health emergency or significant emotional distress, we encourage families to work with mission leaders and appropriate medical or mental health professionals.
Most missionary resources are created for missionaries.
PEARL was created specifically for the people supporting them.
Instead of focusing only on what missionaries should do, PEARL helps parents understand how they can strengthen connection, communicate more effectively, and support their missionary throughout the entire mission journey.
Every educational topic follows the same simple framework:
Understand. Connect. Support.
Rather than simply giving information, PEARL helps parents understand what may be happening, respond in ways that strengthen relationships, and use practical tools that promote healing, resilience, and growth.
PEARL officially launches September 1.

PEARL was created by Bryson Ensign, founder of Latter Day Missionaries.
Bryson completed residency training in adult psychiatry and is currently completing fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry. He has a special interest in improving the mental and emotional well-being of missionaries and their families before, during, and after missionary service.
Important: Although Bryson is a physician, PEARL and Latter Day Missionaries are educational platforms. In this setting, he is not acting in the role of a physician or providing medical care, diagnosis, or treatment. Instead, he serves as an educator and life coach, sharing educational information, practical tools, and evidence-informed principles to help parents better support their missionaries.
PEARL is intended to educate and empower parents and should not be considered a substitute for individualized medical, psychiatric, psychological, or therapeutic care. If you or your missionary have concerns about a medical or mental health condition, please seek care from a qualified healthcare professional.
Our hope is that every missionary parent feels a little less alone, a little more prepared, and a little more confident.
Because while your missionary may be the one wearing the name tag...
you're on a journey too.
